Wrap text around image without float, using CSS

I would like to do this, without float.

Before this is downvoted and listed as a dupe post, know that I already researched the hell out of this and the only answer I've found is float or some JS. My current fix is using flexbox, which works...until it doesn't. When changing browser size, if the text is not long enough resulting in a white space appearing below the image.
