How to 'write' timestamp onto video file MATLAB

I am recording three separate feeds from webcameras through matlab. I am recording fine using the image acquisition toolbox but I was wondering if there was a possibility of 'writing' or saving the timestamps onto the footage in MATLAB? The Image Aquisition toolbox preview displays the timestamp but this is not present in playback from the disk. I will need the timestamps for each frame when I break the .avi file into individual frames.
