What would be the simplest way to implement multiple image upload on a mobile device?

I'm in the process of implementing a mobile web application, I wish to upload multiple images on a seperate page (upload.php) and display those images on a seperate page, so that i can then resize, drag and scale the images.

My current approach is to upload the images to the server and then retrieve those images from a directory. My only issue with this is that it slows down the website significantly. Is there a way to temporary upload and display on a seperate page client side and then when they've finished editing, upload server side? if so, could you provide me with a pseudo example please.
